Pondering on purpose

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts (and my bio), I am passionate about helping people discover and pursue their purpose. If you’ve found yourself pondering your purpose, I have one question for you:

If all of your expenses were taken care of, how would you spend your 40 hr. work week?

Your response to this question is a good clue in the quest to discover your purpose. In the spirit of fairness, I’ll share my response: If all of my expenses were taken care of, I would spend my 40 hr. work using the Arts to help young people around the world discover and pursue their purpose.

How about you? How would you spend your 40 hr. work week?

  1. If I had the time, I’d love to immerse myself in music. Playing it, studying it, writing it, performing it, listening to it. Music really is the sort of thing that needs lots of time, but lots of that time doesn’t earn you money.
I guess it’s a little self-indulgent, but it is the one thing that I could see myself spending 40 hours a week for the rest of my life and not getting bored.

    • Hi Ben,

Thanks for reading and responding! Well, now I must confess that I kind of “cheated” with my answer. Because I would very much love to immerse myself in music, writing, visual arts, etc. So, of course, as I’m using the Arts to help young people discover their purpose, that process would include times where I could simply indulge in the Arts. When I think about it though, allowing some self-indulgent Arts immersion usually keeps me passionate about sharing the Arts with others; so I think it’s kind of necessary! 🙂

P.S. I saw Brahms in your tag cloud and just wanted to tell you that he’s my favorite composer.
